My First Visit To Africa!

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I just can’t believe the cruel combination of diamonds and the stench of poverty in South Africa, I was over whelmed when I visited this small town in South Africa called “Soweto”. How can a place like that where they produce such a valuable commodity and allow people to live with no food, no water, no electricity and absolutely no HOPE! Yet, in this country we don’t have the privileges nor the wealth for a such valuable commodity and can live like a normal life style. What’s up with that? Can you tell me your opinion.

How To Take Care Of Opals

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Opals are softer and more fragile than most crystalline gems. Because they contain from 3% to 20% water, they can be damaged by freezing or drying out. So to avoid the freezing and the drying do not wear the opals in extremely cold weather, or in direct sunlight or around hot water.

Because Opals are softer they absorb dirt and grit a lot easier. To clean them, use only warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid any form of strong chemicals, ammonia and vibration. Don’t put opals in a plastic bags, commercial jewelry cleaner or acid.  Take your opal jewelry to your jeweler and have them clean it for you. Good Luck!

Opals The October Month Stone

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Personally, I don’t care for Opals. Needless, to say it’s my birthstone.  I don’t like the colors it’s very blunt it does not suit my personallity. Unlike me I’m sasey, spicey, tangey, energitic, joyful what’s up with my birthstone. Unlike my birthstone the “OPAL”  it’s  very dual, very light pastel colors, old fashion dome shaped, or flat shape, it has weird colors that are all faided. Do you have this Birthstone? And what do you think? Am I the only one who feels like that about this birthstone?
